  • Comparison of Ridinilazole Versus Vancomycin Treatment for Clostridium Difficile Infection

    Summit is developing ridinilazole as a novel antimicrobial for Clostridioides difficile Infection (CDI), formerly known as Clostridium difficile Infection, with the goal of demonstrating an improved Sustained Clinical Response rate in subjects treated with ridinilazole as compared to subjects treated with vancomycin. A phase 2 proof of concept study, with vancomycin as comparator, demonstrated these attributes with a comparable safety profile. A high fecal concentration of ridinilazole and little systemic exposure were noted. The rationale for this phase 3 study is to confirm the improvement in sustained clinical response of CDI over vancomycin and to compare the safety and tolerability of ridinilazole to that of vancomycin. Ridinilazole plasma concentration will be assessed in a subset of patients.

    The primary purpose of the study is to validate the sensitivity and specificity of the Ellume Home Flu Test and the ellume.lab Flu A+B Test in detecting influenza A and influenza B as compared to reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) Secondary aims are to: Validate the sensitivity and specificity of the Ellume Home Flu Test and the ellume.lab Flu A+B Test in detecting influenza A and influenza B as compared to viral culture; Evaluate the participant's satisfaction with the convenience and ease of use of the Ellume Home Flu Test; Evaluate the participant's interpretation of the Ellume Home Flu Test results compared to the interpretation by site staff; Evaluate the operator's satisfaction and ease of use of the ellume·lab Flu A+B Test.

  • A Study With ABBV-155 Alone and in Combination With Taxane Therapy in Adults With Relapsed and/or Refractory Solid Tumors

    An open-label, dose-escalation (Part 1), dose-expansion (Part 2) study to assess the safety, pharmacokinetics (PK), and preliminary efficacy of ABBV-155 alone and in combination with paclitaxel or docetaxel. In Part 1 (dose escalation), participants will receive escalating doses of ABBV-155 monotherapy (Part 1a) or ABBV-155 in combination with paclitaxel or docetaxel (Part 1b). In Part 2 (dose expansion), participants will receive ABBV-155 monotherapy or in combination therapy. The ABBV-155 monotherapy cohort will enroll participants with relapsed or refractory (R/R) small cell lung cancer (SCLC) (Part 2a); the ABBV-155 plus a taxane (paclitaxel or docetaxel) combination cohort will enroll participants with R/R non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and breast cancer (Part 2b).

  • Use of Coconut Nourish and Queen Garnet Plum to Improve Health in an Elderly Population

    The purpose of this study is to identify whether the combination of coconut Nourish and Queen Garnet plum are able to attenuate ageing-related complications, including muscle mass loss and inflammation. The study endpoints will measure muscle mass as the primary endpoint with blood lipids, glucose, blood pressure, and inflammatory markers serving as some of the secondary endpoints. As the two products are rich in dietary fibre and anthocyanins, respectively, the study outcome will help to understand role of these dietary components in improving complications that are seen quite frequently in elderly population.

  • A Study Evaluating the Safety, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Efficacy of SM04646 Inhalation Solution in Subjects With Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)

    SM04646-IPF-03 is a Phase 2a, multi-center, open-label study evaluating the safety and efficacy of a single inhaled, nebulized dose of SM04646 solution over a 12-week treatment regimen in subjects with mild to moderate IPF. A total of approximately 24 subjects will be enrolled in the study (approximately 12 subjects into the "non-bronchoalveolar lavage \[BAL\]" arm and approximately 12 subjects into the "BAL" arm). Subjects that currently do not require, have failed to tolerate, or have opted not to have treatment with pirfenidone or nintedanib will have the option of participation in the "BAL" arm or participation in the "non-BAL" arm. Subjects currently receiving treatment with pirfenidone or nintedanib must be on stable treatment for a minimum of 12 weeks prior to the Screening Visit. Subjects currently on treatment with pirfenidone or nintedanib may participate in the "non-BAL" arm only. Eligible subjects will participate in a treatment period of 12 weeks and a follow-up period of 12 weeks. The treatment dosing pattern will follow a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off regimen, wherein subjects will dose 5 consecutive days of each 7 day "on" week.

  • Collection of Whole Blood Specimens in Pregnant Women

    To prospectively collect whole blood specimens and clinical data from pregnant women scheduled for an invasive prenatal diagnostic procedure ("invasive procedure"). Specimens will be used for future testing with an investigational NIPT.

  • Time RestrIcted Feeding For Improving Diabetes Risk (TRIFFID)

    This study will explore the effects of eight weeks of time-restricted feeding (TRF) on body weight and composition, glycaemic control, 24-hour glucose profiles, glucoregulatory hormones, and cardiovascular risk in men at high risk of type 2 diabetes. The investigators hypothesise that 8 weeks of TRF will reduce body weight, improve body composition, improve glycaemic control and blood lipid profiles. The potential mechanism will be explored in terms of the changes in gene expression patterns and multi-omics level (e.g., adipose tissue transcriptome, blood proteome).

  • A Study of Ponatinib Versus Imatinib in Adults With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

    In this study, adults with newly-diagnosed Philadelphia Chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL) will receive first-line therapy of ponatinib or imatinib. The main aim of this study is to compare the number of participants on each treatment that show no signs of disease. Participants will take tablets of either ponatinib or imatinib at the same time each day combined with reduced-intensity chemotherapy for up to 20 months. Then, they will continue with single-agent therapy (ponatinib or imatinib) until they meet the discontinuation criteria from the study.

  • The Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth Study Pilot

    This is a pragmatic study in which will compare a detailed treat-to-target (T2T) treatment algorithm to standard care for SSc SIBO at multiple sites around the world. The treatment algorithm was developed from the results of a survey of SIBO treatment preferences of rheumatologists and gastroenterologists. Although the drugs in the algorithm are already used in SSc, there is no uniform way of doing this and assessing the patient response. A very standardized protocol was created with details of how to use the medications, the duration of use and the timing of different drugs. In addition, symptoms of SIBO will be dectected by having patients complete a validated screening questionnaire, the global symptomatic score (GSS), online every 3 months for the duration of the study. A score \> 5 is very strongly related to bacterial overgrowth. In other studies, about 40% of unselected patients score at this level. This same questionnaire will be used in the T2T doctors' offices to decide if response is adequate and will also be used to assess outcome in the algorithm group versus standard care group. The primary outcome is the change in symptoms based on the total GSS. Secondary outcomes will include examination of all GSS subscales. HRQoL will be assessed by the social scale of the newly developed UCLA SSc GIT 2.0 questionnaire, which has become the standard GI questionnaire in SSc trials. ???RN. # 00296313
